Note that the 2006 groundwater production was about 6,300 acre-feet, including
unaccounted for water and treatment plant operational requirements.
Augmentation water required to offset the depletions to the South Platte River
associated with this pumpage was about 5,300 acre-feet.
Another important metric associated with treated water delivery relates to daily
peak treated water demand. Total water treatment capacity is about 13.7 million
gallons a day (mgd); however, given water treatment operational needs and
limitations, the treated water daily production capacity available to meet peak
demand is typically about 12 mgd. Peak daily demand in 2005 and 2006 was about
10 mgd and 9.5 mgd, respectively.
Based on these data presented in this last section, the City has potential future
restrictions related to total annual groundwater yield, and daily peak demand
treated water capacity. Future water conservation activities will be crafted to
manage these potential limitations, as well as reduce overall customer demand.
Additional analyses related to these potential limitations are provided in Section 4.
City of Brighton Water Conservation Plan 5
