The City derives its water supply from eight wells in the <br />South Platte Alluvium and three wells in the Beebe Draw Drainage Basin. In addition, the City <br />owns surface water rights from ditch companies for augmentation purposes and to provide non- <br />potable irrigation water. The City of Brighton water district has legal obligation to supply, <br />distribute, and provide water at retail rates to domestic, industrial, and public facility customers. The <br />district has a current retail water use of approximately 5,400 acre-feet/year, which meets the <br />requirement ofa covered entity, under statute ~37-60-126. The application is attached for your <br />reVIew. <br /> <br />The applicant is requesting $24,900 to aid in completing a Water Conservation Plan that meets the <br />requirements outlined in HB 04-1365. The applicant has demonstrated their financial ability to <br />provide 25% of the total project budget with matching funds in the form of $13,213 in-kind <br />contributions. Staff has reviewed and evaluated the grant application and has determined that the <br />proposal meets or exceeds the CWCB guidelines for reviewing grant proposals. Attached is the <br />internal checklist used to evaluate the application as well as the application evaluation criteria. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />The OWCDP staff recommends that Dan McAuliffe, Deputy Director of the CWCB authorize <br />$24,900 to the City of Brighton for completion of their Water Conservation Plan. <br /> <br />Attachments <br /> <br />Flood Protection.
