The City derives its water supply from eight wells in the
South Platte Alluvium and three wells in the Beebe Draw Drainage Basin. In addition, the City
owns surface water rights from ditch companies for augmentation purposes and to provide non-
potable irrigation water. The City of Brighton water district has legal obligation to supply,
distribute, and provide water at retail rates to domestic, industrial, and public facility customers. The
district has a current retail water use of approximately 5,400 acre-feet/year, which meets the
requirement ofa covered entity, under statute ~37-60-126. The application is attached for your
reVIew.

The applicant is requesting $24,900 to aid in completing a Water Conservation Plan that meets the
requirements outlined in HB 04-1365. The applicant has demonstrated their financial ability to
provide 25% of the total project budget with matching funds in the form of $13,213 in-kind
contributions. Staff has reviewed and evaluated the grant application and has determined that the
proposal meets or exceeds the CWCB guidelines for reviewing grant proposals. Attached is the
internal checklist used to evaluate the application as well as the application evaluation criteria.

Recommendation:

The OWCDP staff recommends that Dan McAuliffe, Deputy Director of the CWCB authorize
$24,900 to the City of Brighton for completion of their Water Conservation Plan.

Attachments

Flood Protection.
