The report provides information
on the steps completed thus far, those issues encountered and discussion on moving
forward with completion of the plan.

Project Steps Completed

Since April of this year, Brighton has been able to substantially complete Steps 1 through
4 and we are currently working on Steps 5 through 9. The draft Water Conservation Plan
(Step 9) is currently about 50% complete Working with our consultant Great Western
Institute, along with various department staff members, we have been able to compile the
necessary data on Brighton's existing water systems, the characteristics of our customers
and the success of existing conservation measures. This information established the
groundwork to forecast demands,.review future capital water facilities needs, and
identifying savings potential with implementation of additional conservation methods.

Weare currently refining the water demand forecasts based on information received from
staff (see project obstacles) and will move forward with the revised forecasts to refine the
water conservation goals (Step 4), identify water conservation measures and programs
(Step 5), evaluate and select water conservation measures and programs (Step 6),
integrate the measures and programs with the forecast (Step 7) and develop the
implementation plan (Step 8). These steps will be substantially completed in November
such that the Draft Water Conservation Plan can be prepared for City Council and public
review by the end of December.
