Monthly Treated Water Demand
Monthly treated water demand has also been measured and consistently recorded by
the City. This inf ormation was used to develop an estimate of f uture monthly treated
water demand as follows:
• A listing of the monthly treated water demand by month f rom January 2002 to
December 2006 was created.
• Using this list, the monthly treated water demand was normalized by month
to the average monthly demand over the year for each of the five years of
record (2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, and 2006).
• An average of the normalized monthly treated water demands was taken
using all f ive years of record to develop an average normalized monthly water
demand f or 2002 to 2006 each month of the year.
• An estimate of the monthly treated water demand was forecasted using a
product of the average normalized monthly treated water demand and the
average monthly demand (i.e., total annual treated water demand divided by
12) f or each of the f orecast years as shown in Table 4 for each month from 2007
through 2017. The resulting forecast is provided in Figure 4.
Figure 4 -Current and Future Monthly Treated Water Demand
500,000
~ 450,000
c
~ N 400,000
0 0 350,000
~ ~ 300,000
~ ~ 250,000
~ °0 200,000
~ ° 150,000
100,000
~ 50, 000
N M d' ~ O ~ DO O O ~ N ~ d' ~ O O ~
O O O O O O O O r ~ r ~ ~~ r ~ ~
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ U U
~ t0 t0 t0 ~ t0 t0 ~ t0 t0 t0 ~ t0 ~ t~ N N
> > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Q Q
tl' d' d' M M M M N N N N~~~ r ~~
M M
Based on this forecast, monthly treated water demand will exceed current peak
monthly treatment capacity of about 370 million gallons by 2014. By 2017, peak
monthly treated water demand is f orecast to be about 440 million gallons (or about
1,350 acre-feet).
Cih~ of Brighton Wnter Cofiservntiofi Plnri 13
