5.

per day. Assuming 2.5 gpm of water Used per 100 tons of
capacity in a cooling tower, the annual water use is
estimated at 1,394,000 gallons. This value includes water
lost through evaporation, drift, and normal blowdown
operations. The newly installed sub meter for cooling tower
usage can be used to verify these calculation. Additionally,
reducing the wastewater costs for cOQling water should result
in considerable financial savings.

Kitchen - Kitchen use is limited in these facilities. Based
on 0.3 gallons of water per meal for pre~aration, 27,000 of
water is used for preparation. Twelve d~shwashers uses of 15
gallons each, five days a week for a.year equals 47,000
gallons. During the site visit, the;kitchen sink was found
to be leaking a steady flow. This leak was estimated to
amount to about 5000 9allons peryeat. Other miscellaneous
uses in the kitchen, ~ce making, cle ning, etc are estimated
~r ~.ooo gallons annua . Total e rl kitchen use is
therefore estimated at 84,000 gallon.

Landscape Irriaation - The landscape~ area adjacent to these
buildings is minimal, estimated at 91000 to 10,000 square
feet. Watering of these areas is do~e early in the morning,
and is normally done by 8:00 a.m. T~e sprinkler systems are
operated by automatic controllers loeated at the different
buildings. An estimated 50,000 gallons per year are applied
to these areas.

Unaccounted Use - The remaining watet use, approximately
195,000 gallons per year, was not ac~ounted for in this
report. This represents about 5% of total water consumed at
these facilities. '

TABLE 3
Water.
