They are part of the Division Of State Nursing Homes. The State Nursing Homes are skilled facilities that provide 24 hour nursing and support care to the physically and/or mentally infirrned residents. Three of the facilities participate in the VA per diem program and primarily serve Colorado Veterans and their families. Each state nursing home provides the following services: Housekeeping, Laundry, Meal Preparation, Therapeutic Diets, Medical, Including Administering Prescribed Medications And Treatments, Personal Care, Activities, And Social Services. All the facilities have Resident Rooms, Kitchen and Dining Room, Staff Offices, and other appropriate space to carry out the treatment and living requirements of the residents. The highest water usage is from main departments: Dietary, Maintenance and Nursing. The buildings range in age from over 100 years of age to new facilities built in the last 3 years. The Department Of Social Services goal is to reduce water usage resulting from inefficient equipment and practices. Within the facilities, water saving devices will be installed wherever possible. As funds are available we will replace antiquated systems and fixtures. The department will educate staff on water conservation as part of its ongoing Training Program. The State Nursing Homes are cash funded agencies and have to comply with ADA, OSHA, VA, OBRA, and other public health requirements, for which priorities have been established.
