This water
use audit investigates water use at the Social Services
Parking Garage, located at 1555 Sherman Street.

Eddie Hernandez and Jim Reed of Denver Water visited the
facility on June 1, 1992 to obtain water use information.
Chris Bridges from the Colorado Office of Water Conservation,
Richard Lebsock and Glenn Close provided much of the
information about water use practices.

EXISTING WATER CONSUMPTION
The Social Services Parking Garage receives its water supply
from Denver Water. It is supplied by a single tap and meter
which is read monthly. Water consumption data for 1989, 1990
and 1991 is listed in Table 1 and presented graphically on
Figure 1.

TABLE 1
Water use (1000 gal. )
Jan Feb Mar Apr May Jun Jul Aug Sep Oct Nov Dec TOT
1989 36 39 15 6 8 7 6 6 4 5 36 48 216
1990 48 48 18 4 4 4 6 6 16 13 29 43 239
1991 4l 20 l5 6 3 3 4 3 3 lO l7 32 l57

WATER USES
This structure is used as a parking garage for state
employees. There are spaces for about 200 cars to park. The
State Motor Pool is situated in the basement of the facility.
Water use is limited to domestic restroom uses and vehicle
washing for the motor pool. About 6 people, motor pool and
grounds maintenance personnel, report to work at the Social
Services Parking Garage. There are three toilets, one
urinal, two sinks and one janitorial sink in the facility.

(,,('8 ~~<Jc,
