Residential

Firestone's residential per capita water usage is 159 gpcd. The Town's ten-year goal is
to reduce this per-capita water usage by 50/0 to 151 gpcd. Achieving this goal
decreases the Town's 2015 projected demand from 2,660 ac-ft to 2,520 ac-ft for a water
savings of 140 ac-ft. The long-term goal is to reduce 2050 usage from 5,805 ac-ft to
5,500 ac-ft for a water savings of 305 ac-ft.

Commercial

The commercial use within Firestone is presently at 137 ac-ft and is projected to reach
523 ac-ft by 2050. The Town will target a water savings of 50/0 for this category. The
ten-year target reduction is 14 ac-ft, and the projected 2050 target reduction is 26 ac-ft.

Parks

Current park water usage is 122 ac-ft and is projected to reach 1 ,257 ac-ft by 2050.
Conservation in this category is important due to the anticipated substantial increase in
the number and extent of parks and the accompanying water use. The Town will target
a water savings of 80/0 for this category. The ten-year target reduction is 28 ac-ft, and
the 2050 target reduction is 100 ac-ft.

Open Space

Current open space irrigation, which are areas not managed by the Town, equates to
214 ac-ft and is expected to reach 1,132 ac-ft by 2050. The Town will target a 100/0
water savings for this category. This equates to a water savings of 40 ac-ft within ten
years and targets a 2050 water savings of 113 ac-ft.

Evaluation and Selection of Conservation Measures and Programs

To achieve the above savings goals, a universal list of water conservation measures
and programs were developed for the Town. This list was then initially screened using
the following criteria:

1. Benefit in water savings
2. Feasibility of implementation
3. Public acceptance
4. Staff and Council approval

These criteria assisted Clear Water Solutions and Town decision makers to immediately
eliminate measures that would not work for the Town. A final list of measures and
programs was established to be evaluated furlher in the planning process. These final
measures/programs were grouped into four categories: Rebates and Incentives,
Educational Programs, Regulatory, and Utility Maintenance. The final list of measures
and programs to be evaluated are summarized below.

Clear Water Solutions, Inc.
Town of Firestone

2007 Water Conservation Plan

ES-2
