Every service connection on the distribution system, regardless of use, is metered. All
of the system meters are read monthly, and the Town is confident in the design of the
system to account for all water use - including hydrant meters used by contractors that
buy construction water from the Town. The water use monitoring program the Town
has been using for the past six years has been an integral part of the maintenance
department's efforts to minimize system leakage.

Firestone has 11 points of connection to CWCWD's system, each consisting of a Master
meter vault and SCADA appurtenances. Water storage has been contractually
provided by CWCWD in the past, but again, the Town has constructed a 1.5-MG water
storage tank to help service its needs.

Sources of Water

Firestone currently does not operate a water treatment facility and is a wholesale
purchaser of potable water. The sole supplier of treated water is CWCWD. The Town
currently only has one source of water, which is CBT. The CBT system has associated
storage, which enables its Allottees to take delivery of CBT water year round. CBT
water is very reliable, delivering 0.7 ac-ft per unit in most years. Each year, Firestone
transfers its CBT water to CWCWD's CBT account through Northern Colorado Water
Conservancy District (NCWCD). CWCWD treats the water at Carter Lake and then
delivers the water to Firestone.

Figure 3.1 - Water Use by Source

Total Water Use = 1,800 ac-ft

11800 :

IDeBT

Firestone's CBT water is considered surface water.
