<br />Water uses in this facility can be divided into five major groups; domestic use, facility
<br />cooling, kitchen use, washing & sanitation and landscape irrigation, Estimates of water
<br />usage in each of these categories are discussed in the following paragraphs, This water
<br />balance will attempt to account for water uses both before and after the remodeling of the
<br />facility,
<br />
<br />Domestic Use - Domestic use is largely restroom usage, All restrooms in the State Services
<br />Building have been remodeled, New flush-valve toilets have been installed that utilize 1.6
<br />gallon per flush, replacing older less efficient fixtures, It is assumed that the facility was
<br />equipped with 4.5 gallon per flush toilets before remodeling, Lavatory faucet flows were
<br />measured at 2,0 gpm, Prior to remodeling, faucet flow rates were assumed to be 3.5 gallons
<br />per minute, Urinals were estimated to be 1.5 gpf models, both before and after the
<br />renovation,

<br />It was reported that there are now 415 full time employees at the facility, less than the 515
<br />that worked there prior to the remodeling. Employees work Monday through Friday, or 260
<br />days per year, Visitors also do business in this building, It is assumed that 200 visitors per
<br />day use the restroom facilities, and that the number of visitors remained the same before
<br />and after the renovation to the facility, Estimates of domestic water use, before and after,
<br />are listed below,

<br />Facility Coolinl!: - A 650 ton cooling tower is located in the State Services Building, This
<br />tower provides cooling for this facility and also for other buildings in the State Capitol
<br />Complex, The cooling tower remained in use during the renovation of the State Services
<br />Building and accounts for most of the water use while the building was unoccupied, It is
<br />
