Colorado Department of Nati tesources
' Drought Mitigation and Response Plan Revision
E. Management Summary
Management Summary
Describe the administrative approach and project management techniques employed during the
contract to ensure the coordination and timeliness of the work.
Ability to Complete Projects on Schedule
The AMEC team understands that one of the concerns in selecting a consultant is to
ensure that the project can be completed in a timely manner. The key staff assigned to
this project will have sufficient time available to accomplish the project tasks within the
project schedule, based on our existing and forecast workload.
AMEC finds that regularly scheduled conference calls held every two weeks with our
clients helps to keep projects on schedule and progressing forward. AMEC uses
Primavera P3 or Microsoft Project, depending upon the complexity of the project, as its
scheduling tool throughout all project stages from initial planning through completion.
These tools allow AMEC project managers to analyze schedules for each project -
specific work element, anticipate cost and schedule challenges and evaluate major
milestones to ensure that decisions are made in a timely manner.
Ability to Complete Projects on Budget
Compliance with established project schedules and budgets are a result of effective
project planning and experienced execution and management. AMEC establishes the
baseline project schedule and budget with input from the client, key team members and
other stakeholders. Other tools include the development of project management plans
and detailed work breakdown structures.
AMEC has a proven project controls system for managing complex engineering
projects. Our systems combine effective management tools, processes and procedures
to provide the flexibility to satisfy critical project requirements and quickly respond to
changing priorities. AMEC uses BST@) cost accounting system for project cost tracking
and control. The BSTO system includes a wide range of possible queries to produce on-
line, real -time reports to track and manage individual projects and programs. AMEC's
BSTO system is web -based and thus is available to all AMEC staff from any internet-
compatible location. The BST@) system is updated on a daily basis and is used to
develop a Cost Report/Forecast of the costs expended to date and forecasted future
costs, all totaled and compared against the authorized project budget.
ameO
