SUBJECT: Water Efficiency Grant Fund Recommendation for the City Brighton
Summary of Grant Application
The Office of Water Conservation & Drought Planning section ( OWCDP) received a Water Efficiency
grant application from the City of Brighton, a covered entity with an approved Water Conservation Plan.
The grant request is for a commercial and residential water audit program.
The commercial and residential water audit program is a high priority in the City of Brighton's Water
Conservation Plan. A successful pilot audit program focusing on local residences, local businesses and
city facilities was completed in 2009 and demonstrated the need for a full fledged program. The current
grant request will assist the City of Brighton to implement the findings of the pilot audit program as well
as to expand the water audit program to more water accounts in Brighton's service area.
The applicant is requesting $49,613.10. The applicant has pledged 32.6% matching funds in the form of
cash and in -kind services. Staff has reviewed and evaluated the grant application and has determined that
the proposal meets or exceeds the CWCB guidelines for reviewing grant proposals. Attached is the
internal checklist used to evaluate the application.
Recommendation:
The OWCDP staff recommends that Jennifer Gimbel, Director of the CWCB authorize $49,613.10 to the
City of Brighton to carry out the commercial and residential water audit program.
