<br />looped, so delivery of water at adequate pressures to key locations within the Town is a <br />concern. <br /> <br />Limitations with Infrastructure <br /> <br />The Town is currently operating five separate water distribution systems. Depending on <br />location, if one part of the system goes down, i.e. repair, leak, etc., it could be difficult to <br />deliver water at adequate pressures and volumes to other sections of Town. <br /> <br />To solve this concern, the Town intends to loop these five systems together in the <br />future. By looping the entire system together, the 1.5-MG tank can be effectively used <br />to serve all portions of Town as needed. <br /> <br />Water Costs and Pricing <br /> <br />All things being equal, reduced water usage will cause a short-term loss in revenue in <br />favor of extending the life of existing infrastructure and water supplies. Conversely, <br />non-efficient use of water may yield short-term increases in revenues and an increased <br />demand on infrastructure and water supplies. Since these decisions involve benefit- <br />cost scenarios, understanding the Town's rate structures, water revenues and costs of <br />raw water acquisition is an important part of the planning process. <br /> <br />Rate Structure <br /> <br />The Town last reviewed its water rates in 2003 under Resolution No. 03-12. Rates <br />have not been revised since this time, but the Town is proposing to complete a rate <br />study in 2007 or 2008. Firestone bills its customers based on tap size. For each tap <br />size, there is a base fee in addition to an inclining-block rate structure per volume of <br />water used.
