City of Grand Junction, Colorado
81501-2668
250 North Fifth Street

Dear Resident:

Congratulations! Your home has been chosen to participate in Grand Junction's
Retrofit Demonstration Project.

People often ask, "How can I make a difference?" Well, by participating in the Retrofit
Project, you will have an opportunity to work with us in a new effort to more wisely manage
our water resources. By working together, we can accomplish the following goals:

~ Help find out how cost effective water-conservation programs might be for the City and
for you;
~ Help determine if water efficiency through retrofit would work in the future;
~~ Cut your water and energy costs by up to 25%, depending on your water use habits.

Role of the Homeowner. Begin saving water, energy and money by installing water
conservation plumbing devices. Between April 2nd and 4th, you will receive your free water-
conservation devices and a short questionnaire. Your water-saving packet will include:

~ a new showerhead for each shower;
~~ a new water-saving toilet devwe; and
~ a faucet aerator.

The packet will come complete with easy-to-follow instructions. All devices should be
installed by April 24, so that City staff can begin the project. If you should need help with
installation, the City will provide the services of a professional plumber. Your water-saving
packet will contain information on setting an appointment.

Role of the City. When all residents have installed their water-saving devices, City staff
will begin monitoring water and energy use. Throughout the 18 months of the project, the
Utilities Department will be happy to answer any questions you may have; call them at
244-1578.

Please plan to attend a meeting for all project participants on April 10 at 7 p.m. at
the City Auditorium, City Hall, 250 N. 5th St. Utilities Department staff, the State
Water Conservation Coordinator and others will discuss the project in more detail
and explain how to install the water-saving devices.

Thank you for taking part in this innovative project; we look forward to meeting you on
April 10.

Sincerely,

Greg Trainor
Utility Manager
