<br />WHEAT RIDGE WATER DISTRICT <br /> <br />BACKGROUND OF THE WHEAT RIDGE WATER DISTRICT <br /> <br />The Wheat Ridge Water District was established by resolution of the <br />Board of Water Commissioners of the Denver Water Department on <br />February 4, 1941. <br /> <br />During the ensuing fifty four years the district has grown via <br />development of new subdivisions, inclusion of other water providers <br />into the Wheat Ridge Water District and cooperation with the City <br />of Wheat Ridge on two areas previously served by other <br />municipalities. <br /> <br />The Wheat Ridge Water District is, by contract, a master meter <br />distributer for the Denver Board of Water Commissioners and the <br />City of Arvada. <br /> <br />The Wheat Ridge Water District is not supported by any taxing <br />authority nor do we have a mill levy in effect at this time, the <br />last mill levy was assessed in 1961. <br /> <br />All operating and maintenance costs are covered by the annual <br />revenues generated thru the sale of water to our customers. <br /> <br />The district is debt free and operates on a pay as you go basis. <br />The district maintains a Reserve Fund in the event of catastrophic <br />loss. <br /> <br />The Board of Directors consists of five (5) members elected by the <br />property owners and serve four year terms. <br /> <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />The district staff currently consists of seven (7): Manager, Office <br />Manager, Field Superintendent, Accounts Receivable Manager, <br />Customer Service/Billing Clerk, Meter Shop Foreman and a part time <br />Meter Reader. <br /> <br />I <br />-) <br /> <br />-iv- <br />
