The projected water demand on the Canon City Water System is:

Year
2010
2030
2050

Projected Population
Served
31,544
40,932
58,123

Projected Annual
Demand in Acre Feet
7,420 Acre Feet
9,629 Acre Feet
13,673 Acre Feet

Using conversion factors of 1 Acre foot = 325,828.8 gallons and 1
cfs = 235,889,280 gallons per year we can compare our supply at the
Low Head Dam with our projected demands.

The annual yield of Canon City Water Diversion Rights at the Low
Head Dam without the F. Mayol Ditch is equal to 5,071,972,658(21.5
cfs x 235,889,280) gallons per year or 15,565.29 acre feet. Our
projected demand for the year 2050 is 4,455,057,182 (13,673 Acre
Feet x 325,828.8) gallons per year or 13,673 Acre Feet. A
conclusion may be drawn incorrectly that we should have no problem
meeting future demands. What we must keep in mind is these are all
average figures and there will in fact be a problem meeting peak
summer demands without an effective water conservation plan and/or
the expense of funds to build our water system to meet these
predicted peak demands.

Section 2.4 Existinq Water Conservation Measures

Existing water conservation measures are as follows:

1. All connections to the water system are metered.
2. Water efficient plumbing fixtures are required by the State
Plumbing code as mandated by the 1992 Energy Policy Act. The
state plumbing inspector has jurisdiction and is responsible
for enforcement of the codes in the water service area.
3. Water conservation information is disseminated at the annual
Blossom Day Festival the first weekend in May each year and is
on display and available in the water billing office at city
hall throughout the year.

Section 2.5 Customer Classes

The Canon City Water Department presently serves 7476 customers.
6407 are single family residential, 1024 are multiple unit,
commercial and industrial, 41 are municipal government, 4 are
miscellaneous.

4
