The City of Canon City is also part of the Fryingpan-Arkansas
trans-mountain diversion water project. The project extends from
Buena Vista to Lamar, Colorado and is administered by the
Southeastern Colorado Water Conservancy District (SCWCD}. From
1985 thru 1996, the City of Canon City has purchased 794 Acre Feet
of the SCWCD water storage capacity in the Pueblo Reservoir as a
supplemental source to the City's supply. Of this amount only 361
Acre Feet are available since approximately 87 Acre feet per year
are consumed by Cotter Corporation. Current plans are to continue
to purchase 90 acre feet per year, which is funded by Cotter
Corporation.

2.2 Water Treatment/Storage Capacity

The present Water Treatment Plant is capable of treating a maximum
capacity of 15 million gallons per day. On November 7, 1995, the
city electorate authorized a $4.6 million revenue bond issue to
finance the construction of a new pretreatment facility which will
replace the existing sedimentation basins and chemical building.
Upon completion of these improvements in mid 1998, the Treatment
Plant capacity will increase to 22 million gallons per day.

With regard to finished water storage, there is an immediate need
for additional storage as our maximum daily demand is 12.6 million
gallons and we have only 7.3 million gallons of storage when all 4
existing tanks are full. We currently have less than 14 hours of
finished water storage capacity during our highest use days of the
summer months. This is an unacceptable position to be in and will
be a greater force in the need for water conservation than any
other known factor at this time.

2.3 Water Demands - Current & Projected

The current water demand on the Canon City Water System is:

Maximum gallons per day treated: 12,606,000 on July 26, 1995

Average gallons per day treated by month:

1995 July
August
September
October
November
December
1996 January
February
March
April
May
June

7,901,000
8,512,000
5,714,000
5,075,000
3,597,000
3,672,000
3,543,000
3,746,000
3,756,000
5,819,000
7,952,000
8,158,000

3
