Town of Castle Rock
Water Conservation Plan

LONG RANGE PLAN

The long term water conservation measures considered in the Town's long range plan are
issues that should be addressed on an on-going basis. The committee identified items which
would be addressed in a timeline beyond one year to be part of the long range plan. This
is then to be a guideline for development of annual work plans, and should expand as ideas
and technologies become available. The long range water conservation plan should be
revised every three years to update, and review the approaches contained within it, and to
evaluate success rates of implemented measures.

1. Water efficient fixtures

. Codes should be reviewed and updated to include new editions of building
and plumbing standards which beneficially impact water conservation on a
residential, and commercial basis.

. Consider upgrading of applicable codes to require best available technological
principles and measures above and beyond current code requirements.

. Continue to follow and analyze consumption data, and retrofit fixture
satisfaction at the three "Teach By Example" locations.

. Consider altering the rate structures to benefit low water using accounts,
through rebates or usage factors.

2. Low water-use landscapes and efficient irrigation

. Continue to follow and analyze consumption data at the "Teach By Example"
locations.

. Consideration of low water consumption landscapes at future Town facilities.

. Continue to implement the Incentive Credit Program, considering landscaping
rebates on a case by case basis.

3. Water efficient industrial and commercial processes

. Consider incorporating a review for new commercial and industrial accounts
which addresses the use of water efficient processes.

30
