The Evergreen Metropolitan District is committed to implementing water conservation
programs, This Section discusses water conservation practices and proposed programs that are
yet to be implemented by the District. The following table illustrates a summary of all the
conservation programs and their implementation date undertaken by the District.

Distribution System Audits

These are currently done by District staff,
One half of distribution system andited annnally,

Large Landscape Water Andit

These will be condncted at the reqnest of the property owner,
This program is projected to be implemented in the spring of 2003,

Water Leak Detection

Sections of poor water mains are evaluated and replace'd
annually by the Districts Constrnction Department.
This program has been in effect since 1988.

Water Plant Garden

This demonstration project show alternative to bluegrass
lawn planting, The garden is maintained by the Evergreen
Garden Club, This program has been in effect since 1993,

Recycling of Wastewater

The Hiwan Golf Clnb nses recycled wastewater from the
West Jefferson Co, Metro District, This program has been in effect
since 1978.

Public Information

This is an ongoing effort throngh messages on the bills, flyers,
newspaper articles, and the Districts WebPages, This program was
initiated in May of 2002,

School Edncation

This is primarily school tonrs at this time,
The school tonr program has heen ongoing since 1990,

District Water Rates

The District enacted, in 1995, a tiered water rate structure that
charges a preminm for incremental higher water nse, This has had a
significant impact on water conservation, since the rate change went
into effect in Jannary 1996, The dronght penalty rate went into
effect Jnne 2002,

Sale of Irrigation Only Water Taps

This has allowed the District to get a better handle on
Irrigation nse through individnal tap monitoring,
This program went into effect in Jannary 1996,

Water Meter Replacement Program

These new electronic meters will allow the District to
respond to changing water use patterns faster, and allow
the implementation of higher water rate strategies during
a dronght. The system is projected to be complete by
the end of 2005, This program began in 1999,
