<br />II <br /> <br />, <br /> <br />Section V <br />Water Conservation Programs <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br />II <br />I <br /> <br />The Evergreen Metropolitan District is committed to implementing water conservation <br />programs. This Section cliscusses water conservation practices and proposed programs that are <br />yet to be implemented by the District. The following table illustrates a summary of all the <br />conservation programs and their implementation date undertaken by the District. <br /> <br />Distribution System Audits <br /> <br />These are currently done by District staff. <br />One half of distribution system audited annually. <br /> <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Large Landscape Water Audit <br /> <br />These will be conducted at the request of the property owner, <br />This program is projected to be implemented in the spring of 2003, <br /> <br />Water Leak Detection <br /> <br />Sections of poor water mains are evaluated and replaced <br />annually by the Districts Construction Department. <br />This program has been in effect since 1988, <br /> <br />Water Plant Garden <br /> <br />This demonstration project show alternative to bluegrass <br />lawn planting. The garden is maintained by the Evergreen <br />Garden Club. This program has been in effect since 1993. <br /> <br />Recycling of Wastewater <br /> <br />The Hiwan Golf Club uses recycled wastewater from the <br />West Jefferson Co. Metro District. This program has been in effect <br />since 1978, <br /> <br />Public Information <br /> <br />This is an ongoing effort through messages on the bills, flyers, <br />newspaper articles, and the Districts WebPages. This program was <br />initiated in May 00002. <br /> <br />School Education <br /> <br />This is primarily school tours at this time. <br />The school tour program has been ongoing since 1990, <br /> <br />District Water Rates <br /> <br />The District enacted, in 1995, a tiered water rate structure that <br />charges a premium for incremental higher water use, This has had a <br />significant impact on water conservation, since the rate change went <br />into effect in January 1996. The drought penalty rate went into <br />effect June 2002. <br /> <br />Sale of Irrigation Only Water Taps <br /> <br />This has allowed the District to get a better handle on <br />Irrigation use through individual tap monitoring, <br />This program went into effect in Jannary 1996. <br /> <br />Water Meter Replacement Program <br /> <br />These new electronic meters will allow the D.istrict to <br />respond to changing water use patterns faster, and allow <br />the implementation of higher water rate strategies during <br />a drought, The system Is projected to be complete by <br />the end of2005, This program began in 1999. <br /> <br />19 <br />
