<br />II) <br />.. <br />II <br />.. <br />II <br />III <br />III <br />II <br />III <br />II <br />II <br />II <br />.. <br />II <br />III <br />.. <br />II <br />II <br />- <br /> <br />Section IV <br />Emergency Water Shortage from a Partial or Complete Interruption <br />Of the Water Supply System <br /> <br />This shortage occurrence would be due to some major catastrophe disruption because of flood, <br />major system breakdown, water plant failure, contamination of the water supply, fire, etc, A <br />shortage of this type would not necessarily allow the District to supply any treated water to the <br />system for the period of time it takes to correct the problem or breakdown, <br /> <br />The District will notify the community and the Evergreen area emergency response groups of <br />this occurrence as soon as possible with every available method of communication. <br /> <br />The following will be in effect: <br /> <br />All non-essential use of water will be prohibited, All irrigation taps will be cancelled; water will <br />only be provided during certain hours; a flyer will be available at the District Office offering <br />instructions as to how to get through this period, <br /> <br />The water shortage response criteria established in this Water Conservation Plan by the District <br />will be incorporated into the Evergreen Fire District's emergency response plan, which will be <br />incorporated into the Jefferson County's Emergency Response Plan, The District's Plan should <br />be consistent with provisions in the County's Emergency Response Plan, Both plans contain <br />procedures for the distribution of potable water in a disaster; these procedures are consistent with <br />guidelines prepared by the Colorado State Office of Emergency Services, <br /> <br />The District's Plan recommends the following: <br /> <br />(1) installation of flood valves at all water system creek crossings; <br />(2) purchase of standby generators and auxiliary pumps; <br />(3) construction of emergency water conveyance and supply storage facilities; and <br />(4) purchase and storage of individual water carrying jugs for public distribution, ' <br /> <br />In addition specific water-critical customers (such as hospitals, nursing facilities, schools, and a <br />few individual customers with medical conditions dependent on continuous water availability), <br />will be identified, Likely potable water distribution sites have been identified, and 500 (5) gallon <br />plastic jugs are on hand, District locations, where individual customers can get five-gallon water <br />bottles filled, will be announced on television and radio news programs, and posted on the <br />District's web site, <br /> <br />During declared shortages, or when a shortage declaration appears imminent, a District Water <br />Sho!tage Response Team will be activated by the president of the Board, <br /> <br />18 <br />
