<br />- <br />- <br />. <br />. <br />I <br />II <br />I <br />. <br />. <br />- <br />I <br />. <br />. <br />. <br />. <br />. <br />. <br />. <br />, <br /> <br />Health and Safety Requirements <br /> <br />Based on commonly accepted estimates of interior residential water use in the United States <br />indicates that 150 gallons per capita per day meets and exceeds all health and safety water <br />requirements, In Levell shortages, customers may adjust either interior or outdoor water use (or <br />both) in order to meet this voluntary water reduction goal, <br /> <br />However, under Level 3 responses the District has established a health and safety allotment of <br />100 gpcd because that amount of water is sufficient for essential interior water use with no <br />plumbing fixture changes, If customers wish to change water-use habits or plumbing fixtures, <br />100 gpcd is sufficient to provide for limited non-essential (Le, outdoor) uses, <br /> <br />Under the Mandatory Rationing Level, which is likely to be declared only as the result of a <br />prolonged water shortage or as a result of a disaster, the health and safety allotment will be <br />reduced to between 66 gpcd depending on the severity of the drought This would require that <br />customers make changes in their interior water use habits (for instance, not flushing toilets unless <br />"necessary," or taking less frequent showers), <br /> <br />17 <br />
