.

.

2. METHODS TO MONITOR CHANGE IN WATER USE:
There are two groups which will be monitored: 1) the school children
and their families and 2) the ioodmoor iater District customers.
The children will have home assignments that will entail determining
their families water use and subsequent savings as they implement the water
savings techniques taught by their teachers. They will beable to follow the
changes in water use month by month as well as comparing the present use
with data from previous years. This data will be able to be monitored every
year and the homework data collected by the schools will be available to
iiSD.
The savings of water by the general public living in the Woodmoor
area will be monitored by the direct measurement of water use by the
customers and collected and ana lysed by the water district. All homes are
individually metered and billed monthly.

EVAlUATE RESULTS:
The use of water within the district is well documented. Changes to
the pattern and overall use of water will be used to evaluate the success
of the proposed program. In addition. a survey of the customers in
November, 1993 will help in determining the actual use of the program by
our customers.
The difference in water use by the students and their families will
be evaluated by the use of data collected by the students before and after
the school curriculum is used in class. Within the WWSD service area
further data will be obtained by monitoring the water use at individual
homes through the water meter readings.

PUBLlCfTY:
Initial information about the program will be included in the iiSD's
quarterly newsletter and will continue to be addressed in each issue. Not
only will there be further discussion of the project but there will be
publication of the developed data so our customers will be able to see how
we are all doing at saving water.
Both parts of the program, general public and school children, will
be presented to the local community by including stories about the program
in the regional paper. The Tribune, the middle school quarterly newsletter.
and the monthly District 38 newsletter, Undate. The Colorado Springs
Gazette is also interested in doing several articles about the program and
Jan Porter, the environmental reporter for KKTV - Channel 11 will also be
developing stories for broadcast.

3.
