PROJECT GOAL
The overall goal of the Grand Junction Residential Retrofit Demonstration Project was
to develop information regarding the economic impact of a retrofit program and the
water utility's return on program investment. The project was designed to accomplish
this goal through the following four objectives:

1. to determine changes in water and energy usage from a residential
plumbing fixture retrofit;

2. to determine the program cost effectiveness for both residents and the
Grand Junction water utility;

3. to determine long term water savings potential from retrofit;

4. and to evaluate device acceptance levels from homeowners

Water and energy consumption data was collected for a period of 18 months ending in
October 1992. This period included one full winter water-use season which is
important in order to isolate interior water use from exterior use and weather variables.

SURVEY
A survey was mailed to participating homeowners in September 1991. Survey
questions helped determine how well the devices were working and homeowner
perceptions about the devices. Below are select survey results.
