<br />DESCRIPTION OF CURRENT CONDITIONS <br /> <br />Thornton Water Service Area <br /> <br />Thornton's water service area covers approximately 20 square miles. According to the <br />2000 census, Thornton's 2000 population is 82,384. Thornton also provides water <br />service to portions of unincorporated Adams County with a 2000 population of 15,080. <br />Projections indicate the City's build-out, including total service area, will contain <br />298,500 residents.! <br /> <br />Land Uses/Customer Classes <br /> <br />Water requirements for Thornton's service area depend upon both the size of the area <br />served as well as how the land is used. Land uses have been grouped to correspond with <br />the City's water customer classes. These groups include: <br /> <br />· Single-family residential. Low-, medium-, and high-density residential, <br />residential estates, and rural areas. <br /> <br />. Multifamily and mobile home. High-density residential development and a <br />portion of mixed-use categories. <br /> <br />. Irrigation. Parks and recreation lands. <br /> <br />. Commercial/industrial/institutional. All other uses. <br /> <br />. Other.
