Town of Castle Rock
1992 Water Conservation Grant Application
Page 9

Town Newsletter
Develop a Quarterly Water Conservation Newsletter
Chamber of Commerce
Posters in Local Stores and Businesses, including Town Hall
Local Metro-District Publications or Newsletters

6. Describe any innovative features of your project or anticipated benefits to your
agency and others.

The most innovative feature of this project is that it teaches people how to
implement water conservation practices and shows them the financial and
philosophical benefits as well, It is specifically designed to address the uniqueness
of Castle Rock by the pressure zones designations, thus addressing the varied
geography of the area, It can reveal how the average Castle Rock family can make
a difference in water consumption and how this difference is reflected on the monthly
water bill, Rather than outline methods or techniques used somewhere in California,
for example, the specificness of the focus will promote more interest locally.

Also, this theory can be re-structured, if necessary, by any municipality to actually
prove to their residents that water conservation efforts do payoff in their area, for
the customer individually, and for the water supplier as well by noting the acre feet
per year projected savings created by the program.

7. If the planning and/or implementation of your project involves more than one
agency, please list all participants,

The governmental agency involvement required to complete this project will be
accomplished within this municipality, however promotion may extend through
Douglas County schools systems as the project is promoted through the Long-Range
Water Conservation Program and its division for youth education. Any inquiries by
other agencies for information on the implementation of such a program would be
met gladly.

8, Estimate of time to complete project (months),

Start up time involved for this project will have to be minimal and
streamlined in order to get the project underway. Project completion would
have to be following the irrigation season, Project implementation should
occur as early in the spring as possible, and continue through year end, being
monitored on a consistent basis.

Reliable historical water consumption data is available on all accounts
