,

Town of Castle Rock
1992 Water Conservation Grant Application
Page 8

Manager
City of Aurora Utilities Department Office of Water
Conservation
Department of Public Works City of Arvada
Colorado Utility Commission meeting attendance

Through incorporating the information received from the above listed resources, and
reviewing the historical reaction of Castle Rock residents to previous water
conservation efforts implemented by the Town, a conservation effort directed toward
the individuality of the supply and distribution system, plus the "show me" attitude
of consumers, lead to the development of a program which could set an example for
all residential water consumers.

4. Please identify any community involvement anticipated or planned as part of your
project.

Community involvement is an integral part of this proposed effort, To insure that
the required involvement will occur, customers will be presented with financial, as
well as philosophical reasons to conserve water. First, advertising is done to find
participating parties in each zone, Then, all methods and results are published in the
local paper as well as through the other means mentioned below, The goal is that
through promotion of the program and publication of the results, more interest in
conservation will be prompted, and the outlined techniques will be used by more
customers. As customers are shown that water conserving techniques can be
accomplished individually, and that they can apply them in their own homes without
large expense, they will realize water savings through consumption and dollars.

Members of the community to be involved in publicizing the program are the
Chamber of Commerce, various homeowner associations, local retailers for
distribution of fliers in product bags, and restaurants.

Members of the community to be involved in providing materials by donation, or
reduced costs for sponsorship include Garden Care, Sunrise Landscaping, Pine Lane
Nursery, Woodman Brothers Nursery, Moore Lumber, and the Castle Rock Chamber
of Commerce.

S. How might you propose sharing the results of the project with your community?

Advertisement for Participants and Monitoring: Results

Local Paper
