Veva McCaig
September 27, 2006
Page 2
comments from the Peer Review Committee members. Results were distributed to the Peer Review
and Advisory Committee members.
Joint Advisory/Peer Review Committee Second Milestone Meeting scheduled for October 11.
Conclusions from the analysis phase of the study will be presented.
Attendance and participation at these meetings has been excellent. A copy of the key documents produced for
these meetings can be obtained from the Douglas County website:
www.douglas.co.us/community/water/HotTopics.html.
We have begun working on the study report (Task 8) and plan to submit a draft to the CWCB by November
21, 2006. Anticipating we will receive comments from the CWCB within approximately two weeks, we plan
to submit a final report to the CWCB by December 12, 2006.
Comments and Concerns
Due to the breadth of expertise represented at the Committee meetings, a formal presentation style for the
committee meetings was required to reach the greatest number of attendees. The number of internal project
team/client meetings and the level of effort required to prepare formal presentations (versus the workshop
style presentations originally scoped) for the Committee meetings has led to a significant amount of additional
effort on the project management tasks.
The Committees expressed great interest and concern with respect to user acceptance and implementation
aspects of precipitation management and outdoor water use conservation. While research in this area was not
originally scoped and has not been a large focus of the study, it has led to many discussions and effort on the
part of the study team that was not anticipated during the scoping phase.
The study team decided that these areas were critical to the overall success of the study. While we have spent
some effort on these out-of--scope areas, they are not being billed to the CWCB and will not affect the CWCB
grant portion of the study.
We appreciate the opportunity to participate in a CWCB Water Efficiency Grant Program Study and we
believe the findings from this study will be very valuable for the water resources community throughout
Colorado.
Very truly yours,
LEONARD RICE ENGINEERS, INC.
~~~ ~~
Beorn Courtne ~~
Y
Project Manager
1234CPN
cc: Jim McCrady
Chris Douglass
Carolyn Burr
LEONARD RICE ENGINEERS, INC.
