CDIVI

Castle Pines Norlh Metropolitan District
Application for Water Efficiency Grant

wire in from the irrigation controllers to the master valve and master meter at each
park site. .

Deliverables
The District plans to begin the installation of this equipment once the Phase I
equipment is installed and operational. Section 5.0 provides the preliminary schedule.

Task 3 - Operational Set Up and Initial Monitoring

Purpose
This task involves the operational set up of tile equipmellt following installation and
developing a protocol for recording monitoring data.

Roles and Responsibilities
CALSENSE and Ewing Irrigation staff would provide the District technical assistall.ce
and training in operating the equipment and educating District staff on the central
control station's software. It is anticipated that District staff would spend several
weeks installing and learning how to operate the system in addition to establishing a
monitoring protocol The District also plans to distribute information to their
customers and general public on the Irrigation Management System. Table 4 at the
end of this section outlines the specific responsibilities, labor rates, and anticipated
level of effort for District staff.

Deliverables
The Irrigation Management System would provide detailed metered data of irrigation
application rates. District staff would consolidate this data on a monthly basis,
recording the monthly amount of irrigated water used at each park~ ET and
precipitation data would also be collected for data comparison pur, poses. These data
would be used to estimate the amount of District irrigated water saved on an annual
basis. The estimated water savings will be presented in the Final Completion Report
submitted to the CWCB. The District also plans to develop a Fact Sheet that provides
general information on the installation, operation, and overall water saving benefits of
the Irrigation Management System. This Fact Sheet will be available to CALSENSE
distributors as well as to CWCB for public distribution. The District will also be
available for on-site demonstrations for water providers, Parks and Opens Space
Managers, and Irrigation Specialists that are interested in learning more about the
systems.

5 As indicated in Table 61' the development of the Fact Sheet and water savings estimates for
the first year of irrigation is included in the project budget However" the production of Fact
Sheets and on-site product demonstratiollS are not included. There is too muc.h uncertainty on
the number of Fact Sheets needed and tours given to provide a reasonable estimate.

13

C~'\OOCUMENTS AN 0 SETTINGS\SLACKCA\O~SKTOP\CPNG RANTlWA TER EFFICIENCY GRANT PROGRA~ AP Pt..ICA TION-DOC
