Castle Pines North Metropolitan District
Irrigation Control System Demonstration
500/0 Completion Report
January 2, 2008

Grant Recipient:

Castle Pines North Metropolitan District
7404 Yorkshire Drive
Castle Rock, Colorado 80104
Jim McGrady, Manager
(303) 688-8550 xlI
jmcgrady@cpnmd.org

Contact:

As described in the Application for Water Efficiency Grant, the Castle Pines North
Metropolitan District (District) is installing an irrigation management system to
optimize irrigation rates and thereby provide water savings. This will assist the District
in meeting its targeted water savings goal of 175 to 220 AFY by 2014, as outlined in
Conservation Goal #1 of the District's CWCB-approved Water Conservation Plan. Also,
Conservation Goal #3 specifically calls for monitoring of District irrigation water use on
parks and open space. This irrigation management system will provide a detailed set of
monitoring data for each irrigation zone.

This 50% Completion Report document is in partial fulfillment of CWCB's Water
Efficiency Grant Program requirements. A summary of the project status, success of
meeting identified goals and objectives, preliminary findings and obstacles, and project
modifications are discussed.

Project Status
The District has completed the Phase I installation of the irrigation management system
and the system is operational. This is Task 1 of the scope of work provided in the
Application for Water Efficiency Grant. This task involved the installation of the
weather station, central control station, meters, valves, and communication accessories
needed to manage the irrigation on Upper Coyote Ridge and Lower Coyote Ridge parks.
Table 1 indicates that the two initial action items outlined in the Project Schedule have
been completed. The District plans to complete the set/up and training on the Phase I
equipment by the end of May 2008.

· The District has ordered and received some of the equipment for the Phase II
installation. This is Tasl( 2 of the scope ofworl( provided in the Application for
Water Efficiency Grant and involves the installation of the remaining meters,
valves, and communication accessories needed to manage the irrigation on
Retreat Parl(, South Open Space Parl(, North Open Space Parl(, and Daniels Gate
Parl(. As indicated in Table 1, the District is planning to complete this tasl( by the
end of June. This tasl( is behind the milestone deadlines originally anticipated in
the Application for Water Efficiency Grant due to weather and budgetary
constraints.
