CARRIAGE HILLS NO. 2 DAM, Dam Failure Forensic Investigation Report Page 32
February 27, 2015

Figure 24: Olympus Dam/Lake Estes storage, outflow, and estimated inflow hydrographs. “REVISED” Lake Estes inflow
refers to the SEO recalculation after Jacobs (August 2014)

DWR provided a straight‐line diagram of the Colorado Big Thompson system including Lake Estes (Figure 25).
The main inflows to Lake Estes are the Big Thompson River (8), Fish Creek (9), and diversions from Marys Lake
(5). Reference 4 indicates that all west slope imports were shut down early on the morning of Sept. 12, 2013.
Therefore, the Big Thompson and Fish Creek were the main inflows to Lake Estes during the flood.

Figure 25: Straight line diagram of the Colorado‐Big Thompson system including Lake Estes, Big Thompson River, and Fish
Creek.
