We are currently working with CDPHE on the issue and anticipate resolution in the near future.
Comment 14b Clearance documentation might be required from State Historical Preservation Office
Response:
The State Historical Office has performed a cultural survey of the area and designated it as Site Number
5LT360, Sangre de Cristo Mine or Tunnel. The investigation was performed in 1996 as part of an
inventory relating to land transfers. The document lists the tunnel, an ore bin and shed, along with
other items including the remains of various foundations. The form lists the site as being eligible for the
historic register but it has never been listed. Their office was contacted concerning this permit and the
status of the site was discussed. A Survey form was provided to use as a guide. The photos in that
documents that were taken of both the shed and ore bin showed both structures to be pretty
dilapidated. Nearly 20 years have gone by since the assessment was made (1996), and none of the
structures remain with exception of the portal itself. There is still an interest in the historical attributes
of the portal. Since the site is continuing with the same use as has been historical, the State is
interested in maintaining the integrity of the site as part of the mining heritage of the district.
Comment 15 Legal right to enter needed
Response:
Attached are copies of deeds that might cause questions. The remainder of the claims are shown in the
name of Providence Mining in the Cripple County records.
Comment 16 Provide certified mail delivered receipts for County Commissioners and Soil
Conservation District
Response:
These were sent to Tim Cazier via email on July 22, 2013. Copies are also attached to this document.
Comment 17 Provide certified mail delivered receipts for land owners
Response:
The certified mail delivered receipts for the landowners that were sent out on June 18, 2013 are
attached. Documents were delivered to three additional landowners on July 22, 2013. Those receipts
will be passed along to DRMS when they are received.
10
