6.4.5 Exhibit E - Reclamation Plan
Under the exhibit, the operator states, "The access driveways will be left
intact once the mining is complete." Under the mining plan exhibit section
the operator states "The east access driveway will remain after reclamation
for landowner use ". Please explain which driveways are to remain in place
after reclamation.
There is an east driveway, which is the ingress and egress to the site. That
driveway will be left intact for use by the owners as the pit is closed. The
reference to driveway(s) is probably inaccurate. There is a driveway off
US 6 to the north which could be misunderstood as part of the pit.
However, it is not an access to the pit. That driveway will not be disturbed
as the pit is reclaimed. The owners also use it for access to the property.
6.4.7 Exhibit G - Water Information
1) Under the exhibit the operator states, "The water table in the area is
substantially below the surface in most cases at least 50 feet deep ".
Did the operator determine the depth based on actual data, or based on
adjacent static ground water well elevations? Please explain. If there
is a potential to intercept ground water, the operator must commit
backfill the exposed ground water to a minimum of two feet above the
exposure elevation. No water can be detained in the pit for more than
72 hours.
The water table data was obtained from the database maintained by the
State Engineer's office. Accessing recorded static water well elevations
from a number of adjoining domestic wells gave an average of the
anticipated ground water depth at this site. We will commit to backfill any
exposed ground water to a minimum of two feet above the exposure
elevation. We recognize that water cannot be detained in the pit for more
than 72 hours.
