40586 Co. Rd. 21
Haxtun, CO 80731
June 29, 2013
Mr. Berhan Keffelew
Environment Protection Specialist
Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215
Denver, CO 80203
RE: Application for a Conversion to a 112 Operation
Holyoke Gun Club Pit M -1977 -075
Dear Mr. Keffelew:
RECEIVED
JUL 01 2013
DMSION OF RECLAMATION
MINING AND SAFETY
This letter is in response to your adequacy comments dated May 13, 2013.
Each comment is repeated from your letter. Responses are in bold and
italicized.
6.4.4 Exhibit D - Mining Plan
Under the exhibit (b) the operator states, "The site will be mined to
approximately 25 feet deep, the pit will have the topsoil stripped and
stockpiled for re- application during reclamation. Any disturbed banks will
be stripped and stockpiled for later use in reclamation." Please explain
which banks are expected to be affected. The operator has committed to a
25 foot buffer around the expanded acres to allow for inspection and
maintenance around the south tracks. The buffer also protects the
Frenchman's Creek embankments. The Division wants to be certain that
there will be no mining activity that can affect the creek's embankments.
The operator's intent is to keep all banks intact and undisturbed. The 25
foot buffer in the expanded area should assure that will be the case.
Frenchman Creek, as it flows within its banks, will not be disturbed.
