Access to the mining area will be from a new access road that will connect to the existing access <br />road used by the county for their pit. <br />Topsoil will be salvaged from all mining areas. Topsoil can be up to 60 inches thick, but only 12 <br />inches will be needed for reclamation. The remaining topsoil thickness will be stripped as <br />overburden. Since concurrent reclamation will be the rule at the Hayden Gravel Pit, the <br />overburden and topsoil will be placed in roughly the same vertical pattern as it is stripped. This <br />will preserve the overall topsoil thickness in thicker areas without any special handling. <br />Initially, topsoil will be used to build the stormwater control berms along the south side of the <br />operation. This will use approximately 9,570 cubic yards of topsoil. The topsoil stored in <br />stormwater control berms will be used in final reclamation. All other topsoil will be salvaged and <br />directly replaced on areas that have been previously excavated. The operation will mine for <br />several months per year and produce stockpiles to last the remainder of the year. Product sales <br />will occur throughout the year. Crushed product will be stored within the Phase 1. Slopes will be <br />mined to 2H:1 V. The overburden will not be stockpiled but directly placed as backfill as it is <br />mined. In addition to the overburden, crusher fines will be placed as backfill. The <br />anticipated total disturbed area for the mining area portion of the operation consists of 77.85 <br />acres, which includes all processing and stormwater control areas. The disturbance at any one <br />time is smaller since there will be ongoing reclamation as the pit advances. <br />Topsoil will be stripped prior to mining each year. Overburden will be removed at the same time <br />as the topsoil but will be handled separately. After the initial construction of stormwater control <br />berms, topsoil and overburden will be directly placed as backfill. Initially this will be in the <br />Camilletti area.
