May 16, 2013 C- 1981 - 010 /Trapper Mine JLE
The primary and emergency spillway was clear and functional. The sediment marker was in place and the
capacity appeared adequate.
Deal pond was holding water but was not discharging. The embankment was stable and vegetated. The primary
and emergency spillway appeared clear and functional.
Horse Gulch Pond was holding water but was not discharging. The embankment was stable and vegetated. The
primary and emergency spillway appeared clear and functional.
West Horse Pond was holding water but was not discharging. The embankment was stable and vegetated. The
primary and emergency spillway appeared clear and functional.
The East Pyeatt re- established drainage south of the life of mine haul road was walked. Trapper has repaired the
damages observed in this drainage last year by regarding portions of the drainage and placing rock check dams at
short intervals along the steep portions of this drainage. Overall, it appears this drainage was able to handle this
year's spring run -off without significant erosion. Similar to Oak gulch, the Division recommends cleaning behind
each of the check dams periodically to maintain the functionality of these check dams.
RECLAMATION SUCCESS - Rule 4.15, Rule 3:
The Division evaluated topsoil depth replacement and backfilling and grade check on the parcels that were
reclaimed in 2012. See the Backfilling and Grading section and the Topsoil section of this report for more details.
REVEGETATION — Rule 4.15; Vegetative Cover; Timing:
The vegetation in the area was beginning to germinate and grow throughout the reclaimed land. The vegetation in
Parcel F -A -11 and K -A -11 consist primarily of annual fortis with some grass beginning to germinate.
SLIDES and DAMAGE - Rule 4.12:
A slump was observed to the east of East Pyeatt drainage. Trapper should re -grade and repair the upper cut slope
of this slump. Also, several large rills were observed running through this slump that will need to be repaired as
well.
The slide scarp above D Pit has been graded and topsoiled.
SIGNS AND MARKERS — Rule 4.02:
The Division checked the mine entrance signs at each of the required locations and found that each sign was in
place and contained the required information.
The permit boundary was observed at various locations throughout the mine during the inspection. The boundary
markers observed appeared to be in the correct location.
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 8
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 4
Page 6 of 11
