4.3 Woody Plant Density Success Comparison
The woody plant density success criterion for Snowcap reclamation is 800 live shrubs per acre.
Tables 1 and 2 along with Chart 3 display the results from the woody plant populations enumerated in
2011 and 2012 on Phase III bond release areas. The 2011 shrub density was determined to average
1,943 stems per acre on Greasewood Comparison Revegetation Areas and 1,800 stems per acre on
Shadscale Comparison Revegetation Areas. In 2012, the Greasewood Comparison Revegetation Areas
exhibited an average of 1,650 live shrubs per acre, and the Shadscale Comparison Revegetation Areas
exhibited 1,717 live shrubs per acre. With the success criterion of 800 live shrubs per acre, both areas
exceed the criterion substantially and will most likely continue to do so in the foreseeable future.
Chart 3
Bond Release Evaluation - Success Comparisons
Woody Plant Density Standard - 2011 and 2012
2000 1,943 -- --°--- — -- ° -°-° -m Success Standard -
1,800 SOO live5temsperACre 1,717
1,650
1500
0
C
I 1000 _._.....,.,. _. ....... ......
._ _ ,.....__._ ... ........ .._.. _... .... .....
E. ____ Bo0 B00
------- --- ------ 3 500 _. _. _ .......
0
Greasewood Shadescale Success Standard
Comparison Comparison
Revegetation Revegetation
2011
Greasewood Shadescale Success Standard
Comparison Comparison
Revegetation Revegetation
2012
In Summary, Phase III areas addressed by this document easily surpass the success standard for
woody plant density.
CEDAR CREEK ASSOCIATES, Inc.
