4.4 Total Perennial Diversity by Lifeform Success Comparisons
The approved diversity standards for Snowcap Mine is to achieve at least 0.5% total relative cover
with at least two species present in the reclamation for each of the following lifeforms: perennial cool -
season grasses, perennial warm - season grasses, and perennial forbs and sub -shrub species. Sampling
efforts in 2011 and 2012 indicate that the bond release areas are performing well in this regard and pass
all diversity standards.
As indicated on Tables 1 and 2 and Charts 4 through 6, evaluation of diversity on the Phase III bond
release areas in 2011 revealed 11 perennial cool- season grasses observed and 1.2% relative cover in
Greasewood Comparison Revegetation Areas and 18 perennial cool- season grasses observed and 12.7%
relative cover in Shadscale Comparison Revegetation Areas. There were three perennial warm- season
grasses observed in the Greasewood Comparison Revegetation Areas and four perennial warm- season
grasses in the Shadscale Comparison Revegetation Areas, contributing 1.4% and 5.3% relative cover,
respectively. Likewise, there were 12 perennial forbs and sub - shrubs observed in the Greasewood
Comparison Revegetation Areas and 20 perennial forbs and sub - shrubs in the Shadscale Comparison
Revegetation Areas, contributing 7.0% and 10.8% relative cover, respectively.
5
4
s
Vg ... _.... ._.
i
a
■
°L. 2
c
 1.2
a`
1 r-
Chart 4
Bond Release Evaluation - Success Comparisons
Diversity- Total Perennial Cool Season Grass Relative Cover- 2011 and 2012
12'7 I Success Standard - 20.5'V.TOtal 15.5
Perennial Cool Season Grass
Relative Cover
0.5
o•
Greasewood Shadscale Success Standard
Comparison Comparison
Revegetation Revegetation
2011
1.2
0.5
Greasewood Shadscale Success Standard
Comparison Comparison
Revegetation Revegetation
2012
CEDAR CREEK ASSOCIATES, Inc.
