Total average vegetation cover for first -hits was 47.4 percent. Allowable all -hit herbaceous cover was <br />47.9 percent (Table C -1). Cover by standing dead, litter, bare soil and rock averaged 3.3, 34.9, 13.3 and <br />1.1 percent, respectively (first hits). Average species density was 28.2 species per 100 sq. m. <br />PRODUCTION <br />(Table A -2) <br />Total herbaceous production in the BRB -1 in 2012 was 1,138.4 pounds per acre. Total allowable <br />herbaceous production was 1,130.8 pounds per acre. Of the total production, 433.6 pounds per acre were <br />native perennial cool season grasses, 401.5 pounds per acre were introduced perennial forbs, and 169.5 <br />pounds per acre were introduced perennial cool season grasses and 110.6 pounds per acre were native <br />annual and biennial f orbs. Two other lifeforms were present, each less than 11 pounds per acre. <br />WOODY PLANT DENSITY <br />"Background" Density <br />(Table A -3) <br />Total average "Background" woody plant density in the BRB -1 in 2012 was 437.1 stems per acre. Big <br />sagebrush (Seriphidium tridentatum) was the densest at 359.0 stems per acre followed by mountain <br />snowberry (Symphoricarpos rotundifolius) with 46.5 stems per acre. Eight other shrub species were <br />present, each with densities of fewer than 15 stems per acre each. <br />Concentration Area Density <br />(Table A- 4) <br />Total average "Concentration Area" woody plant density in the BRB -1 in 2012 was 4,318.0 stems per <br />acre. Big sagebrush was the densest at 3,178.0 stems per acre followed by chokecherry (Padus <br />virginianus) with 713.9 stems per acre, quaking aspen (Populus tremuloides) with 278.8 stems per acre <br />and curl -leaf mountain mahogany (Cercocarpus ledifolius) with 85.4 stems per acre. Five other species of <br />shrub were present, each with densities of fewer than 35 stems per acre. <br />13 <br />
