<br />Unit SRM -NM5a. Santa Fe National
<br />Forest, Santa Fe County, New Mexico
<br />This unit is located approximately 9
<br />mi (14.5 km) east of Santa Fe, New
<br />Mexico, in the Sangre de Cristo
<br />Mountains, in north - central New
<br />Mexico. It contains primarily FS lands.
<br />Areas contain attributes of owl habitat
<br />with steep slopes (greater than 40
<br />percent slope), canyons, and rocky
<br />outcroppings with dense, mixed -
<br />coniferous forests. WUI project areas,
<br />State and private lands are not
<br />designated as critical habitat.
<br />Unit SRM- NM-5b. Santa Fe National
<br />Forest, San Miguel, Mora Counties, New
<br />Mexico
<br />This unit is located approximately 18
<br />mi (29 km) west of Las Vegas, New
<br />Mexico, in the Sangre de Cristo
<br />Mountains, in north - central New
<br />Mexico. It contains primarily FS (Pecos/
<br />Las Vegas Ranger Districts, Santa Fe
<br />National Forests) lands. Areas contain
<br />attributes of owl habitat with steep
<br />slopes (greater than 40 percent slope),
<br />canyons, and rocky outcroppings with
<br />dense, mixed- coniferous forests. State
<br />and private lands are not designated as
<br />critical habitat.
<br />Unit SRM- NM-11. Jicarilla Division,
<br />Carson National Forest, New Mexico
<br />This unit is located approximately 40
<br />mi (64 km) east and 12 mi (19 km) south
<br />of Bloomfield, in northwestern New
<br />Mexico. It contains primarily FS
<br />(Jicarilla Division, Carson National
<br />Forest) lands. Areas with steep slopes
<br />(greater than 40 percent slope), canyons,
<br />and rocky outcroppings with dense,
<br />mixed- coniferous forests are included in
<br />this unit. This unit contains mixed -
<br />conifer on steep slopes and canyons
<br />incised into volcanic rock. WUI project
<br />areas, State and private lands are not
<br />designated as critical habitat.
<br />Unit SRM- NM-12. Jicarilla Division,
<br />Carson National Forest, New Mexico
<br />This unit is located approximately 40
<br />mi (64 km) east and 6 mi (9.6 km) north
<br />of Bloomfield, New Mexico, in
<br />northwestern New Mexico. It contains
<br />primarily FS (Jicarilla Division, Carson
<br />National Forest) lands. Areas with steep
<br />slopes (greater than 40 percent slope),
<br />canyons, and rocky outcroppings with
<br />dense, mixed - coniferous forests are
<br />included in this unit. This unit contains
<br />mixed -conifer on steep slopes and
<br />canyons incised into.volcanic rock. WUI
<br />project areas, State, private, and Tribal
<br />lands are not designated as critical
<br />habitat.
<br />Unit CP -1. Mount Taylor, Cibola, and
<br />McKinley Counties, New Mexico
<br />This unit is located approximately 12
<br />mi (19 km) northeast of Grants, in west -
<br />central New Mexico. It contains
<br />primarily FS (Mount Taylor Ranger
<br />District, Cibola National Forests) lands.
<br />Habitat is naturally fragmented into
<br />disjunct canyon systems or isolated
<br />mountain ranges. Areas with steep
<br />slopes (greater than 40 percent slope),
<br />canyons, and rocky outcroppings with
<br />dense, mixed - coniferous forests are
<br />included in this unit. This unit contains
<br />mixed- conifer and canyons habitat that
<br />contain attributes of owl habitat. State
<br />and private lands are not designated as
<br />critical habitat.
<br />Unit CP -2. Zuni Mountains, Cibola, and
<br />McKinley Counties, New Mexico
<br />This unit is located approximately 30
<br />mi (48 km) southeast of Gallup, in west -
<br />central New Mexico. It contains
<br />primarily FS (Mount Taylor Ranger
<br />District, Cibola National Forests) lands.
<br />Habitat is naturally fragmented into
<br />disjunct canyon systems or isolated
<br />mountain ranges. Areas with steep
<br />slopes (greater than 40 percent slope),
<br />canyons, and rocky outcroppings with
<br />dense, mixed - coniferous forests are
<br />included in this unit. This unit contains
<br />mixed- conifer and canyons habitat that
<br />contain attributes of owl habitat. State,
<br />private, and military lands are not
<br />designated as critical habitat.
<br />Unit CP -10. Arizona Strip, and Kaibab
<br />National Forest, Coconino County,
<br />Arizona
<br />This unit is located in northwestern
<br />Arizona, and is predominantly within
<br />the boundaries of Kaibab National
<br />Forest and Grand Canyon National Park.
<br />The majority of this unit contains steep -
<br />walled canyon habitat, but the unit also
<br />contains forested habitat within the
<br />North Kaibab Ranger District and Grand
<br />Canyon National Park. State, and private
<br />lands are not designated as critical
<br />habitat.
<br />Unit CP -11. Iron, Washington, and Kane
<br />Counties, Utah
<br />This unit is located in Iron,
<br />Washington, and Kane Counties in
<br />southwest Utah, approximately 22 mi
<br />(35 km) northeast of St. George. Canyons
<br />and steep - sloped mixed conifer habitats
<br />are included. Foraging and dispersal
<br />habitat are also present. State and
<br />private lands are not designated as
<br />critical habitat
<br />Unit CP -12. Kaiparowits Plateau, Kane,
<br />and Garfield Counties, Utah
<br />This Unit is in the vicinity of the
<br />Kaiparowits Plateau and the
<br />Cockscomb, in Kane and Garfield
<br />Counties. Canyons and steep - sloped
<br />mixed conifer habitats are included.
<br />Foraging and dispersal habitat are also
<br />present. State and private lands are not
<br />designated as critical habitat.
<br />Unit CP -13. Glen Canyon Reef, Kane,
<br />Garfield, and Wayne Counties, Utah
<br />This unit occurs in Wayne, Garfield,
<br />Kane, and San Juan Counties, Utah. It is
<br />primarily in the Waterpocket Fold
<br />landform extending to Lake Powell.
<br />Canyons and steep - sloped mixed conifer
<br />habitats are included. Foraging and
<br />dispersal habitat are also present. State,
<br />private, and Triballands are not
<br />designated as critical habitat.
<br />Unit CP -14. Dark Canyon Primitive and
<br />Wilderness, San Juan, Wayne, and
<br />Grand Counties, Utah
<br />This Unit lies in Wayne, Garfield, San
<br />Juan, and Grand Counties, Utah. It
<br />includes the Dark Canyon Primitive and
<br />Wilderness areas of the BLM and FS,
<br />respectively. Canyons and steep - sloped
<br />mixed conifer habitats are included.
<br />Foraging and dispersal habitat are also
<br />present. State and privatelands are not
<br />designated as critical habitat.
<br />Unit CP -15. West Tavaputs Plateau
<br />This unit is located approximately 30
<br />mi (48 km) east of Price, in Carbon and
<br />Emery Counties. Situated in the West
<br />Tavaputs Plateau, it is located largely
<br />along the Desolation Canyon area of the
<br />Green River. Canyons and steep - sloped
<br />mixed conifer habitats are included in
<br />this Unit. Foraging and dispersal habitat
<br />are also present. State and privatelands
<br />are not designated as critical habitat.
<br />Unit BR -E -1a. White Mountain,
<br />Lincoln /Cloudcroft in Lincoln Counties,
<br />New Mexico
<br />This unit is located in the Sacramento
<br />Mountains, New Mexico. It contains
<br />primarily Lincoln National Forests
<br />lands. Habitat includes ponderosa pine,
<br />mixed - conifer, and spruce fir forests and
<br />is patchy distributed throughout the
<br />higher mountain ranges. State and
<br />private lands are not designated as
<br />critical habitat. WUI project areas, State,
<br />private, and Tribal lands are not
<br />designated as critical habitat.
<br />Unit BR -E -1 b. Lincoln /Cloudcroft in
<br />Otero County, New Mexico
<br />This unit is located in the Sacramento
<br />Mountains, New Mexico. It contains
<br />primarily FS (Sacramento Ranger
<br />District, Lincoln National Forests) lands.
