Describe the equipment to be used for the prospecting operations:
The removal of the top vegetation layer will be done using a skid steer and stockpiled. The
excavation of the pit will be done using a backhoe or small excavator of similar size and stockpiled.
deposit material to 1/2 inch minus. The 1/2 inch minus will then flow into a 2 foot by 8 foot hydraulic
sluice for separation. The vibratory screen is powered by a small gasoline engine. A gasoline
engine powered water pump will provide water to me sluice. 1 he water pump has a inch intake.
L. Describe and locate any structures to be constructed (i.e. stockpiles, ponds, impoundments):
Within the 1/2 acre mine site there will be two stockpiles. A small stockpile of the vegetation
layer that will be removed at the location of the pit to be excavated. The second stockpile will
be t he d eposit nraleridi excavated from the level of the removed vegetation layer, to the dep
• • t• •. . • •
• _ - • • • n • _ 6, • • - ••• _ • _ •
• ] • • • M L•
M. Describe anticipated relationship to surface water and groundwater (proximity to streams, penetration of ground
water aquifers):
The pit to be excavated is approximately 200 feet from the Alamosa River. Water is
expected to be exposed at a depth of 4 feet.
IV. OPERATION AND RECLAMATION MEASURES:
1. The Board suggests that a photographic record of the pre - prospecting and post - prospecting conditions be kept by the
prospector. These photos should be taken from the same location and by the same method to clearly show the pre - prospecting
condition of the land and the reclamation efforts. Upon completion of reclamation and request for bond or surety release, the
Board may consider the photos as evidence of adequate reclamation, and thus, be able to act more quickly on the request for
release.
2. Provide a description of the native vegetation of the area to be disturbed, including tree, shrub, and grass communities of the
area. Color photographs, sufficient to adequately represent the ecology of the site and adequately labeled (including date,
orientation and location), may be used in lieu of a written description. Based on the quality of the photographs, the Division
may require additional detail.
In the area of significant disturhanr.a the vegetation an the strrferF is larking The soil
characteristics could be described as loose gravel deposit, or stream bead material. The
only significant vegetation growing on the deposit are immature spruce trees. There will
be no need for tree removal to conduct the proposed exploration activities.
