10 . 19 BUFFER ( 11 )
Revegetation will occur in the buffer. ( 11 ). as required
by the type of disturbance. Presently, well established veget-
ation requires no special management. If final reclamation is
needed , then at a minimum, it will consist of grading , hydro-
seeding , fertilizing and hydromulching .
10. 20 BASE OF LOW GRADE ORE STOCKPILE ( 12 )
An old tailing pond was deactivated at Climax during
1936 at which time tailing deposition commenced in the Robinson
Tailing Pond . Now the old tailing pond is being covered with open
pit waste rock as a base upon which to store low grade ore. One
hundred ninety-nine acres will be covered.
The base or lower bench of waste rock will be about 80
feet in width to allow for a tailing delivery line , service road
and equipment access for reclamation purposes. The bank slope
will have about a 1 . 3: 1 ratio.
During Phase III this bench and slope of waste rock
along Highway 91 will be revegetated with the aide of topsoil from
McNulty Gulch. The procedure will be similar to that described
for lower. McNulty Waste Rock Dump.
Following final processing of the low grade ore which
was stockpiled on top of the waste rock, reclamation of the
surface of the waste rock base will commence . Reclamation
procedures will be similar to that described for the bench
surfaces in the mid section (Section 2 ) of McNulty Waste Rock
Dump. Grading and any reshaping of the waste rock will easily
occur on the large surface area of the dump. Topsoil will not be
available for the reclamation effort.
10 . 21 ROBINSON TAILING POND ( 13 ) AND DAMS NO. 1 AND NO. 2 ( 14 , 15 )
Portions of the Robinson tailing deposition area are
scheduled to be stablized and r.evegetated during Phase III and
Phase VI . Stabilization will likely commence on the 140 acres of
No. 1 Dam ( 14 ) during the period 1990 to 1992 following the
deactivation of tailing deposition on Robinson and will involve
10-17
