hauling approximately 650 , 000 cubic yards of waste rock from the
open pit. The waste rock material will cover the face of the dam
to an average depth of three feet. Benches will be provided for
equipment access. The overall final slope will be approximately
3 : 1 .
Topsoil will not be available for revegetation purposes
on the dam, except possibly in limited quantities to create
islands of soil on benches. The primary plan for revegetating the
rockfaced dam is to apply an initial fertilizer and Climax seed
mix with the hydroseeder , followed by an application of
hydromulch. Depending upon the outcome of current and future
investigations of r.evegetating the rock material in the above
manner , an alternate plan is to substitute the hydromulch with a
straw or wood chip mulch secured to the surface with a suitable
netting material or tackifier .
During the second year of revegetation of the tailing
area, Engelmann spruce and selected shrubs will be planted.
A seed , plant and fertilizer mainentance program will be
active until it is determined that the vegetation is
self-sustaining .
Reclamation procedures and methods for No. 2 Dam will
occur similar to those of No. 1 Dam, except that lower portions of
the dam expected to be buried by the rising tailing of the active
Tenmile Tailing Pond will not be reclaimed. It is anticipated
that 37 acres will not be covered by Tenmile tailing and therefore
be exposed for. reclamation. Reclamation of No. 2 Dam will occur
along with the reclamation of Robinson Tailing Pond during Phases
III and IV.
Reclamation of Robinson Tailing Pond will occur during
two phases of the mining operations, Phase's III and VI. During
Phase III , it is anticipated that approximately 350 acres of the
tailing area will be reclaimed. The remaining 327 acres, those
needed for the water pool and mill water flow channel across the
surface of Robinson Tailing Pond , will continue to be used as part
of the mill water circuit. This acreage will be reclaimed during
Phase VI .
10-18
