3 : 1 with equipment where feasible and safe , but remaining portions
will remain at 1 . 5 :1 . Rock walls remaining after removal of
r.iprap rock from quarries will remain intact at an overall slope
exceeding 1 :1 at places.
Existing tailing embankment slopes have a ratio of
approximately 3 :1 . The new embankment at the Mayflower. Tailing
_Pond will have a slope ratio near 4 : 1 . These slopes will be cut
and regraded only to accommodate equipment.
The Arkansas Aggregate Pit will be regraded to
approximately 3 :1 after aggregate has been depleted near the year.
1997 .
In order to construct flood bypass and interceptor
canals, it has been necessary to make cuts on very steep slopes.
Some of the cut and fill slopes are approximately 2: 1 .
Reclamation has already started on these slopes and includes the
use of gabions for slope stability. Additional canal construction
is planned and slopes will not exceed 2 :1 where environmentally
advantageous . Cuts made through hard rock and steep terrain are
the exceptions which are justified by merit of minimum landscape
disturbance .
R Remaining landscape disturbances requiring regrading
will be kept to approximately a 2:1 slope or less with sufficient
contouring to maintain proper. drainage.
10 . 5 SEEDING
Climax has such a high demand for grass and forb seed
that a mixture of commercially supplied seeds are relied upon for.
seeding . Native seed sources are just not available presently.
Climax uses a seed mixture that has evolved through
years of research and use and will continua to evolve with
evaluation, demand and further research. Currently, the Climax
seed mix consists of the following species , varieties and
percentages:
10-4
