There is no filling of land above the 100 year
floodplain. There will be no permanent backfilling above existing terrain anywhere in the permit
area. The Floodplain permit with Mesa County has been issued.
Table D -6 shows a balance of the topsoil and overburden stripped and stockpiled versus the
amount of topsoil and overburden used in the reclamation of the Pit. The columns labeled
"Topsoil" and "Overburden" are projected volumes of material stripped from each pit in cubic
yards (cy). The column titled Minimum Volume Needed for Reclamation of 3:1 Slopes is the
minimum amount of material which is required for the reclamation of that pit (sloped backfill
along sides, only). Pits require overburden and topsoil only to achieve 3H:1V slopes. The
remaining overburden/topsoil can be placed in the lake bottoms or used for the options discussed
previously. This plan indicates there is more than enough overburden and topsoil available to
reclaim the mined areas, as well as to generate additional features.
Otter Creek Pit December 12 D -
