7.7.2.2 Formed surfaces exposed to weather or in contact <br /> with earth: two inches (2") for all reinforcing bars. <br /> 7.7.2.3 Projecting reinforcing bars intended for bonding with <br /> future extensions shall be protected from corrosion by <br /> concrete or other adequate covering. <br /> 7.8 SPLICES <br /> 7.8.1 Splices shall be made as shown on the Drawings. <br /> 7.8.2 Lap splice lengths for rebar shall be class C top bar tension splices <br /> as indicated in chapter 12 of ACI 318 with no reduction in splice <br /> length taken as indicated in paragraph 12.2.4 of ACI 318. <br /> 7.9 CONSTRUCTION JOINTS <br /> Longitudinal reinforcement shall be continuous across all construction and <br /> control joints. <br /> 8 Formwork <br /> 8.1 Construction of formwork shall comply with ACI 347, so that concrete <br /> members and structures are of correct size, shape, alignment, elevation and <br /> position. Contractor is responsible for design, erection and performance of <br /> formwork. <br /> 8.2 CHAMFER <br /> Place three-quarter-inch (3/4")chamfer strips in corners of forms to produce <br /> three-quarter-inch (3/4") wide beveled edges on permanently exposed <br /> corners of members. <br /> 8.3 Clean and adjust forms prior to concrete placement. Tighten forms to <br /> prevent mortar leakage. Coat form surfaces with form release agents prior <br /> to placing reinforcing bars in forms. Form release agents shall not stain <br /> concrete or prevent bonding of future finishes to the concrete surfaces. <br /> 8.4 INSPECTION <br /> The Contractor shall provide a means of securing the twenty-four-inch (24") <br /> RCP conduit during placement of the pipe cradle to ensure movement of the <br /> pipe does not occur.
