eight (8) working hours notice prior to concrete placement, to allow <br /> sufficient time for inspection of the RCP securing method, foundation, <br /> formwork and reinforcement placement. All rebar placement and formwork <br /> shall be completed a minimum of eight (8) working hours prior to scheduled <br /> concrete placement. <br /> 9 CONSTRUCTION JOINTS <br /> 9.1 Provide construction, expansion, and control joints at locations indicated on <br /> the Drawings. Where not indicated, locate construction joints so as not to <br /> impair strength and appearance of the structure and at locations acceptable <br /> to the Engineer and meeting requirements specified hereafter. <br /> 9.2 Where specified on the Drawings, a formed keyway shall be provided in <br /> accordance with the details shown on the Drawings. <br /> 9.3 Obtain a bond between successive concrete pours at construction joints by <br /> thoroughly cleaning and removing all laitance and loose and foreign particles <br /> from construction joints. Before new concrete is placed, all construction <br /> joints shall be coated with an approved proprietary bonding adhesive, used <br /> and applied in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations. <br /> 9.4 The end surfaces of adjacent construction/control joints shall be painted <br /> with an acceptable sealing compound to prevent bonding between sections. <br /> 9.5 Reinforcement shall be continuous across all construction and construc- <br /> tion/control joints. <br /> 10 DEPOSITING CONCRETE <br /> 10.1 Concrete shall be conveyed and placed as rapidly as practicable, either by <br /> manual or mechanical means that will prevent the segregation and/or loss <br /> of ingredients. <br /> 10.2 PREPARATION <br /> Before placing concrete, all dirt, debris, water, and ice shall be removed <br /> from forms, trenches, and excavations. Any flow of water into an <br /> excavation shall be -diverted through proper side drains to a sump, or <br /> SPEC. B- CONCRETE <br /> PAGE 13 <br />
