5.1 Surface Water
Purgatoire River - Stations PRS-1, PRS-2 and PRS-3.
During 1986, Stations PRS-I, PRS-2 and PRS-3 will be monitored monthly for flow,
pH, conductivity and temperature. In addition, an annual sample collected in
November will be analyzed for the water quality parameters listed in the attached
letter. This data will establish any impact of mining on the major receiving stream
of the area.
Mine Discharge - Stations N4DNE-1 and MDGE-1.
These stations will continue to be monitored monthly for flow, pH, conductivity,
temperature, total suspended solids and iron. In addition, total dissolved solids,
total combustible solids, sodium, bicarbonate and manganese will be analyzed
quarterly and the parameters listed in Table 2 of the letter will be analyzed annually
(November). This data will be used in the assessment of impacts on the major
receiving stream of the area.
Ciruela Canyon - Stations CCS-1 and CCS-2.
Because of increased surface activities with mine operations and refuse disposal,
monitoring frequency at these stations will be monthly for flow, pH, conductivity
and temperature. In addition, quarterly and annual samples will be collected and
analyzed for those parameters consistant with the mine discharge sampling. This
data will be utilized in the assessment of potential impacts of increased surface
activities in the canyon.
Apache Canyon - Station ACF-1.
Following assessment of baseline data collected from the flume and projections of
impacts associated with the five year mine plan, MLR approved discontinuation of
monitoring until further disturbance is proposed in this canyon.
Santistevan Canyon - Station SCF-1.
Following assessment of baseline data collected from the flume and projections of
impacts associated with the five year mine plan, MLR approved discontinuation of
monitoring until further disturbance is proposed in this canyon.
-28-
