The reclamation sampling program will evaluate cover, production, and woody <br />plant density. Methodologies will be similar to those described within Rule <br />2.04.10. Randomly placed fifty meter transects will be sampled for cover, <br />production, and woody plant density. Cover will be assessed with the use of <br />a 10 point frame, placed at 5 meter intervals. The resulting 100 "hits" <br />will be averaged per transect and the averages will be used to determine <br />species composition. Plant production will be estimated by averaging the <br />oven -dried annual herbaceous growth contained within 3 im quadrats, <br />randomly placed along the transect. Only the volumetric projection of <br />vegetation above the quadrat will be clipped. Woody plant density will be <br />determined by counting shrubs rooted within a 2 X 50 meter belt transect. <br />Transect averages will be used as datum for statistical analysis. <br />Quantitative descriptions of the plant communities which occupy the <br />surrounding area and which may have existed prior to disturbance are given <br />under Rule 2.04.10 and in Table 12, Native Pastureland Vegetation Type; <br />Table 13, Alkali Sagebrush Vegetation Type; Table 14; Meadow Hay Vegetation <br />Type; and Table 15, Brome Hay Vegetation Type. <br />Revegetation will be deemed successful when herbaceous cover and /or <br />productivity on the revegetated area is at least 90% of the respective <br />parameter(s) for the reclamation success standard with 90% statistical <br />confidence and when the area has met the diversity standard. The diversity <br />standard requires at least two perennial grasses to exceed 5% composition <br />and one perennial forb to exceed 3% composition with no one species to <br />exceed 40% composition. If herbaceous cover and /or productivity on the <br />revegetated area is less than the cover and /or productivity of the success <br />standard, a one - tailed "t" test will be performed to determine if there is a <br />statistically significant difference. <br />2.05 -49 Revised 06/20/88 <br />
