f RECLAMATION COSTS Climax Mine ( February, 1985 ) _.�------ Many affected areas have been revegetated, but are not con- sidered totally reclaimed. Estimated costs and surety bond amounts for such areas are adjusted downward as reclamation occurs and upward to cover additional disturbed areas . Because of the continuously changing acreage and status of affected land, the Board stipulated that reclamation costs be updated every two years in conjunction with submittal of the annual report and map . The existing bond , covering reclamation cost estimates for the 1983-1984 period , is for $22 million (per 1982 Annual . Report submitted in February, 1983 ) . We have refined our acreage estimates, our methods and our costs. The estimated costs of reclaiming all anticipated disturbances through 1986 is $25 . 281 million. A. Some areas have subsoil and may not require straw, costing still less . Other areas such as very steep slopes , may require more effort and materials , thereby costing more.
